Over a history spanning four decades, State of Origin football has presented us with some of the greatest memories in Australian sporting history. Here, we step back in time to present five of the greatest Origin games every played by the Queensland Maroons, presented in their entire original broadcast format. From Artie Beetsons underdogs clinching victory in 1980 and Allan Langer's heroics in the 1987 decider, to Mark Coyne's last-gasp miracle try in 1994 and Darren Lockers series-deciding intercept in 2006, this classic collection is a must-have for any true Queenslander.
1980, Game 1 | Queensland 20 10 New South Wales - On a cool July evening at Lang Park in 1980, State of Origin is born as Maroons skipper Arthur Beetson leads his Maroons to an impressive upset against their highly-fancied New South Wales opponents.
1987, Game 3 | Queensland 10 8 New South Wales - Playing in his first Origin series, diminutive Maroons halfback Allan Langer proves the difference in the series decider, taking out Man-of-the-Match honours as Queensland win a classic Origin encounter.
1994, Game 1 | Queensland 16 12 New South Wales - Behind on the scoreboard with the clock ticking down, a never-say-die Maroons outfit throws the ball through ten pairs of hands until Mark Coyne famously crashes over the corner for a match-winning miracle.
2001, Game 3 | Queensland 40 14 New South Wales - Queensland legend Allan Langer makes a shock comeback to the Origin fold, guiding a young Maroons side to a thumping win in the 2001 series decider and etching another chapter into Origin folklore.
2006, Game 3 | Queensland 16 14 New South Wales - In a moment forever frozen in time, inspirational Maroons skipper Darren Lockyer pounces on a wayward pass deep inside Blues territory and plunges over the line to steal Queensland's first series win in four years.
