In April 2010, Britain’s greatest warship, HMS Ark Royal, departed for a six-month deployment. The aircraft carrier weighs a hefty 20,000 tons and is 700 feet long. Our cameras captured the daily lives of the 1,200 crew members and how they keep the mammoth ship operational. With exclusive access to all areas of the ship we follow her as flagship of a multinational task force as it heads across the Atlantic. For many of the crew it will be their first and perhaps last experience of life at sea, testing their ability to live and work in cramped, pressurised conditions.
