Ridley Scott, director of "Alien" and "Blade Runner," returns to the genre he helped define. As a director of long-standing distinction, Ridley Scott, who has been nominated for three Academy Awards and gained his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2011, can command the services of leading composers. In recent years he has chosen to work with a relatively new talent, Munich-born Marc Streitenfeld, who went to Los Angeles at the age of 19 and learned film composition from a master of the art, Hans Zimmer (The Lion King and many other films).

After working as music supervisor and editor on several blockbusters, among them Ridley Scott’s Kingdom of Heaven in 2005, Streitenfeld was asked by Scott to compose the music for A Good Year, and since then has scored all of Scott’s subsequent films. For one of them, American Gangster in 2007, he received a BAFTA nomination.
