It's been nearly four years since Evanescence finished touring in support of their 'The Open Door‘ album, but now they are officially back with a brand new self titled album scheduled for release through Wind Up Records on October 7. The album features the roaring new single 'What You Want‘ which was recorded in Nashville‘s Blackbird Studios and produced by Nick Raskulinecz (Foo Fighters, RUSH, Deftones). Frontwoman Amy Lee describes the song as being "really different" from anything in the band's back catalogue. 'What You Want‘ is most definitely a departure, the guitars buzz like a hornet's nest, the drums are pounding and primal, and the strings (arranged by Beck's father, David Campbell) swell and stab. Throw in a positively massive chorus and Lee‘s beautiful melodies, profound lyrics, and poignant piano, and you've got a song that's powerful enough to shake the world to its very foundation.
Evanescence broke onto the scene with the release of 'Fallen‘ in 2003. The album garnered two Top 10 singles, 'Bring Me To Life‘ and 'My Immortal‘ and landed the group two Grammy awards (Best New Artist and Best Hard Rock Performance). The album stayed on Billboard‘s Top 200 chart for over 100 weeks and went on to sell over 15 million copies worldwide. In October 2006, the band released their much-anticipated second studio album, The Open Door, which has sold more than 5 million copies to date worldwide. Locally, Evanescence have sold over 600,000 albums to date.
