Henry Crabbe continues to split his time between his restaurant and police work. Henry and Margaret spend a day at the races courtesy of Margret's new client Bob Bishop. When a body is discovered one of the stable lads, Ben Tucker, Crabbe is put on the case. Henry is alarmed to hear that his local Chinese-takeaway owner has been the victim of recent attacks. Upon investigation he realises that the owner is not telling the truth and he admits to gambling away his livelihood, and owing a Chinatown club owner a lot of money.
