Plucked from the ranks of various Sydney punk bands and dumped unceremoniously on the doorstep of a new genre,Animal Shapes is uniquely placed to make a mess of things. Members of Grand Fatal, Lights Out, Lungs, The Optionals, The Reason, and Staying At Home, trying to construct noodley twinkle-core as democratically as possible. Taking influence from the likes of Pinback, American Football, Sonic Youth and Minus The Bear, Animal Shapes recorded their debut album CALABI-YAU in just three days with Lachlan Mitchell.
