Aboriginal Soul

The latest Nascente world release 'Aboriginal Soul' features many tracks from Australia's leading contemporary indigenous performers, as well as long-standing legends of Australian indigenous songwriting. This timely release carries 2 tracks that the now extremely popular Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu sings on (with the Saltwater Band), as well as other 'students' of the new school of 21st century Aboriginal soul & folk music, plus classics from the master songwriters who influenced this new generation. Geoffrey Gurrumul Yunupingu is the world music star of the last couple of years & not just in Australia, but offshore as well - his debut solo album of soulful Aboriginal folk has done 30,000 copies in the UK, since its release there in May '09, not to mention his phenomenal sales at home. Not to be outshone though, legendary Aboriginal performers Mark A Hunter, Ruby Hunter & Archie Roach all contribute a track, and the next generation of Aboriginal artists such as Wildflower, Shellie Morris & Dan Sultan also feature. The latter group proudly mix their Aboriginal heritage with contemporary influences such as rock, soul and electronics.
