Chamber opera has a special magic: an intimacy and immediacy not found in the more elaborate productions of grand opera. The founders of Pinchgut Opera are a group of professional musicians, arts administrators and music lovers who discovered they shared a dream to build something different in the musical life of Sydney. Several previous performances have been recorded live for release on ABC Classics, garnering fabulous reviews as far afield as the BBC! Pinchgut performed Charpentier's David & Jonathan in 2008 on period instruments. This beautiful and engaging French Baroque opera brings to life the Biblical story of a friendship which surmounts political, religious and even family differences.
