“They’re going to explode like a can of Coke left in a hot car!” FasterLouder This is the sound of a band full of life. It’s the erratic, dark hours of an unscripted night out, the reflective and sombre time of a dawn walk home. This is the sound of The Salvagers. This Sydney four-piece featuring Cam Young (Vocals/Guitar), Nic Puertolas (Vocals/Drums), Nathan Murdoch (Guitar) and Michael Dawson (Bass) fuse dark hook-laden rock & roll with melancholy electronic grooves and four-way vocals, drawing on influences as varied as The Stooges, Test Icicles and Brand New. THE SALVAGERS E.P. is the first taste of these lad’s calibre; it opens with the driving rock rush of “Die Pretty”, then sweeps you to the dark side with the foreboding electro pulse of “Abbey”. “Seventy Seven” pulls you up by the collar and drags you out into the harsh, vibrant crunch of a night out in King’s Cross, whilst “Living for the Weekend” is a calm come down before the driving beat and thumping guitars of “Raz Girls”; a message that the party is far from over. THE SALVAGERS E.P. was recorded at Sydney’s iconic Electric Avenue Studios with producer Lee Groves (Bertie Blackman, Depeche Mode) and mixed in the UK by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro).
