Teenage bad girl, Siggy (Jodie Rimmer), has big plans. Motivated by love, greed and anger, she comes up with a plan to highjack her sleazy pimp Lou’s (Michael Hurst) money-making scheme. I'll Make You Happy is a comedy heist in which Siggy (Jodie Rimmer) inspires her friends to break out of their mundane lives. With an unlikely team including agoraphobic Lester (Carl Bland), mild-mannered Drew (Ian Hughes), dominatrix Fran (Sandy Ireland) and sex workers Mickie (Rena Owen) and Mel (Jennifer Ward-Lealand), she pulls off a heist involving decoy cops, sexual distractions, misleading code words and narrow escapes. The adventure brings out the best in everyone, especially Siggy and Lester, who reach a new understanding and discover a future. Written by sisters Anne and Athina Tsoulis, I'll Make You Happy' s vibrant story neatly balances the hilarity of the solution with the tragedy of the problem. Centred around a stylised version of Auckland's red-light district, it offers a glimpse of street life reality lightened by the warmth of the characters and the humour of the story.
