When novice vetinarian Jill Blake arrives in the small town of Paringa, she finds herself totally unprepared to work as an assistant to the hard-nosed local vet Kate McDonald. Kate doesn't suffer fools gladly and her first impression is that this city girl in her bubble car hasn't got what it takes to make it in this community. Far away from pampered pets of the Adelaide Hills, Jill's preconceptions of rural life are tested and her naivety exposed. She must learn to deal with the fact that here animals are often your livelihood and hard decisions need to be made. But both Kate and the town need Jill and hopefully she will not be just another one in the string of assistants who give up at the first hurdle.
