I Can Dream Can't I?

Light blue translucent vinyl, 2LP, gatefold package with liner notes. Melissa Errico releases I Can Dream, Can't I? on November 9th via Three Graces Music. I Can Dream, Can't I? finds the Tony Award-nominated Broadway actress and singer returning to the American Songbook with a deeply personal collection of standards, accompanied by longtime collaborator Tedd Firth on piano. These are standards that are not quite standard: songs of conversation, reflection, longing and self-discovery that favor questions over declarations and emotional nuance over easy answers. Drawing from composers and lyricists including Cy Coleman and Carolyn Leigh, Duke Ellington, Peggy Lee, Rodgers & Hart, Jerome Kern and Dorothy Fields, Frank Loesser, Cole Porter and Joni Mitchell, Errico brings her distinctive interpretive voice to songs both familiar and unexpected. Following her acclaimed explorations of Stephen Sondheim, Errico approaches the wider American Songbook with the same attention to language, wit and emotional complexity. From the playful sophistication of When In Rome (I Do As The Romans Do)" and the dreamlike romance of "Dancing On The Ceiling" to the introspection of "Both Sides Now" and the yearning title song, I Can Dream, Can't I? unfolds as an intimate journey through love, memory, hope and the complicated inner lives of adults. Elegant, searching and deeply felt, I Can Dream, Can't I? offers a fresh and distinctly Melissa Errico perspective on the enduring possibilities of the American Songbook."
