With LA FORTERESSE, Pomme opens a new chapter in her journey. At 30, the singer-songwriter delivers her fifth album, a deeply personal work she chooses to produce entirely herself for the first time, surrounded by her stage musicians. Conceived as a fable in four chapters, LA FORTERESSE traces a path of emancipation: from childhood and it's inheritances, through love and it's wounds, to the walls we sometimes have to break through in order to rebuild ourselves. Shaped by several years of creation between Japan, Aaron Dessner's American studio, and the Château de la Haute-Borde, the album draws it's imagery from castles and forests, medieval mythology, and the worlds of Hayao Miyazaki. Musically, Pomme unfolds a broader universe than ever before, where intimate folk, piano-and-voice, acoustic guitars, synthesizers, and lush orchestration meet. Song by song, the armor falls away and light gradually enters the fortress. An intimate, abundant, and luminous album that reveals a freer Pomme than ever, fully in command of her own universe.
