My Pet Pig

Greg names the pig Max and quickly learns that caring for him is not always easy. Max needs warmth, milk, patience, and attention. He becomes part of Greg's daily life, sleeping near the wood stove, riding in a bicycle basket, visiting school for pet day, and eventually going to the Shawano County Fair.

As Max grows, so does Greg's understanding of responsibility, compassion, and love. But when a storm damages Max's pen and Max disappears, Greg has to face the fear of losing his best friend.
