The Body Remembers Freedom

This book introduces a somatic approach to healing that centers bodily awareness, sensation, and movement as essential tools for psychosocial wellness and the cultivation of human potential. Grounded in a real-world case study, it presents the development, implementation, and evaluation of a somatic intervention carried out in Ukraine. Developed over six years and piloted in collaboration with Ukrainian psychologists, veterans, activists, and war-relief workers, the program was field-tested and evaluated over a seven-month period in the Donbas region. The book bridges individual and community health, emphasizing the interdependence of personal experience and broader social conditions. In the face of extreme adversity, the transformative potential of somatic methods became undeniably clear.
