The third album by Toby Mobbs, ‘Stranger That I Know’, holds a familiar sound from what you’ve come to expect from his releases while maintaining many surprises. A diverse genre packed collection in 8 songs without any of them feeling out of place. Mobbs has again brought along with him the finest of musical friends to help shape this release including feature artists Meedie and James Oswald. Co-production by Matt Cross has shaped an album that places high value on melody and harmony. While you won’t hear a full orchestra or operatic tenor this time around, tracks like ‘Best For Me’ will pull you straight back to 90s rock, a folk driven sound of ‘Some Time’, and just enough violins and guitar solos on the closing track ‘Rather Stay’ to remind you that a Toby Mobbs album while familiar, is no stranger to the unexpected.
