The Gift

There’s a spark every time Mike Nock and Leah Berry make music together. What began as a simple message — Leah sharing lyrics she’d written to Nock’s The Gift — became something much larger: an unfolding collaboration built on instinct, trust, and deep listening. An invitation to join him on stage led to a chance moment, drummer Laurence Pike in the audience, hearing enough to set the next step in motion, a live performance at the InnerWestJazzFestival. Soon after, in a rush of creative energy, Berry wrote lyrics to a further seven of Nock’s compositions. They went straight to the studio. Joined by bassist Jonathan Zwartz, and drummer Laurence Pike.
