How far would you go to save your son?

Very few situations can surprise the staff at the police precinct. If you ask, they'll tell you they've seen it all. Until, that is, THE KID (17) comes in drenched in blood and politely asks to speak with DETECTIVE SHAW (early 40s); he has a murder to report. Suddenly everything has changed. Recently divorced, Detective Shaw is trying to reconnect with his son AARON (14). He wasn't a neglectful dad, it's just that his wife did most of the parenting while he put his job first. It was easier to say no to family dinner than to the wife of a murder victim. So when he finally has a day off, he's going to enjoy it. Go watch his son's basketball game like a normal dad. But when the precinct calls, his plans go out the window. There's a boy there, age unknown, name unknown, waiting to speak with him. And he won't talk to anyone else. When Detective Shaw gets to the precinct, CAPTAIN HAAS (50s), SERGEANT KASONGO (mid-40s) and DETECTIVE DEACON (30s) haven't found out anything new. Some blood samples were taken off the floor in the lobby and sent to the lab, but that's it. Detective Shaw starts his interview with The Kid very simply: he needs a name, an age, whether they should call a parent. But he doesn't get those answers. Instead he gets a story about how some people count and others dn't. How some people are looked after and others aren't. It's not telling Detective Shaw anything about a murder. The Kid tells him he's wrong. This is all connected - and don't interrupt me again. When the preliminary lab results come back, Detective Deacon decides to take a run at The Kid: you're covered in pig's blood, is there even a murder? The Kid's response? Jamming Detective Shaw's pen into Detective Deacon's jugular. While everyone rushes in to try and save Detective Deacon, The Kid steps back, calmly waiting for the handcuffs. Detective Shaw tries to continue his interview with The Kid from his holding cell only to discover that The Kid has kidnapped his son, AARON (14).
