Intrepid's First Twenty Rings

Many years ago Intrepid began life in the redwood forests of what is now the coastal area of Northern California. These books recount Intrepid's many rings as it grows from a small seed to a tall member of an old growth forest.

In this book, Intrepid recounts how it got its start in the forest, starting with a forest fire that prepared the ground for a seed to grow. Intrepid starts from a small seed which emerges from the dirt. It grows and connects with other trees in the forest and makes friends with them. A storm comes to the forest, and one of the tallest trees is blown over. While the tree falls, a new tree comes from the roots of the fallen tree, and continues the life of that tree.
