Every year in the United States, hundreds of thousands of newborns require specialized care in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). Prematurity, low birth weight, breathing challenges, infections, congenital conditions, and complications during delivery are among the most common reasons infants are admitted.

While NICU babies represent a smaller percentage of all births, the number is still significant, impacting families from every demographic and community.

For many parents, a NICU admission comes unexpectedly, turning what should be a joyful moment and a quick return to home into one filled with anxiety, uncertainty, and emotional exhaustion.

The length of stay for NICU babies varies widely, depending on their gestational age and medical complexity. Some infants may spend only a few days receiving support, while others, particularly those born very prematurely, may remain for weeks or even months.
