Jada and John Mitchell have the perfect marriage. In a small, quaint community east of Raleigh, NC, the couple has already built their dream home. They have established careers in which they both enjoy; John, a child psychiatrist and Jada, a teacher. He has achieved every personal goal, except becoming a father.
One morning before meeting John for lunch, Jada goes to a store to return some lingerie items. She calls first, making sure she could return anything that hasn't been worn. A salesman answers the phone and begins asking inappropriate questions about the items purchased. Upset at this dialogue, she Jada enters the store and demands to speak with the manager. The manager can hear the heightened voice and quickly comes to the front counter to squelch the volume. She sends the salesman, Frank Baker, to a storage room in the back, eager to resolve the dispute. The manager listens to Jada's concerns and apologizes profusely, assuring her the salesman's behavior will be addressed. Once Jada leaves, Frank Baker returns to the front counter, sharing with the manager a completely different scenario. Never having any previous concerns with Baker, the manager believes him and dismisses the issue.
Immediately following the verbal altercation with the salesman, Jada's world as she knows it, becomes a nightmare. First, her home is burglarized, then her classroom vandalized. Because it is quite evident Jada is being targeted, a detective, Wiley Moore, becomes involved with the case. He meets with her and John to create a possible list of suspects and implements a series of processes for Jada to follow as a safety precaution. But this doesn't stop the psychopath who continues playing mind games.
Time is running out for Jada. John has a conference to attend in Winston Salem. Detective Moore is certain if this crazed man were to attack, it would be during John's absence. Additional safety measures are taken to protect Jada, but to no avail. The culprit stands in front of Jada's front door. The time is now.
This novel is a compilation of love, seduction, and suspense, and betrayal. The target audience would most likely be adult females.
