Vocalist and composer Lauren Henderson explores the connections between sound, identity, and diasporic influence on Sonidos, a seventeen-track collection that weaves together original compositions and reimagined standards. The album features her regular ensemble of Joel Ross on vibraphone, Sullivan Fortner on piano, Dezron Douglas on bass, and Joe Dyson on drums, with guests Luisito Quintero on percussion and Eric Wheeler on bass. Original pieces like "Bold," "Luna," "Vida," and "La Llegada" showcase Henderson's compositional voice alongside her interpretive approach to American songbook classics such as "On The Street Where You Live."
