La Salut I La Bellesa

“It would be ideal to want to be normal”. But Magalí Datzira, luckily for everyone, is not quite so. She moves like a fish in water in the abnormality of writing songs that are bits of life, pieces torn from a diary, reflections that as soon as touch the ground with her feet as they take off towards the clouds. All the dissonances between the earthly and the spiritual flow in her music, in her exceptional second album “La salut i la bellesa”.

Let's put it in context: Magalí Datzira is a young double bassist, singer and composer from Barcelona. With extensive experience on stage (she has performed with Andrea Motis, Rita Payés, Christina Rosenvinge...), her personal proposal starts from jazz but becomes transversal. She draws on a wide range of influences that go from funk to electronic pop, from the most intimate and Mediterranean sounds to urban rhythms. A musical universe that fully crystallizes when adding an urgent and contemporary lyrical voice. 

After presenting her first solo album, “Des de la cuina” (2023), she now returns with “La salut i la bellesa”. An album where, from the most intimate experience, Magalí talks about emptying herself to refill herself. She talks about sadness. About paranoia and everyday abysses. She talks about the different stages of love. But above all, about caring, about taking care of yourself and being cared for. And about friendship as a vital keystone in this ultra-connected world. She says it is a blue album, the blue of the Mediterranean: a warm blue, the oxymoron is valid. In this new adventure, Magalí Datzira is accompanied by Vernat (guitars and backing vocals), David Gimeno (drums), Toni Mora (piano and keyboards) and Iscle Datzira (saxes). The album, recorded practically live in the Casafont mountain studio, also includes vocal cameos by Mr. J. Medeiros (“Health and Beauty”) and Marco Castello (“Deserve”) and several songs performed on a string basis. The mixes are by Adrià Serrano and the mastering is by Raphael Jonin, with production by Magalí herself.
