Paris Rosemont's follow up collection to her highly acclaimed debut Banana Girl, is about journeys: through love, disenchantment, and change. Paris Rosemont's debut Banana Girl exploded onto the poetry scene a hybrid of experimental styles and a fresh, edgy voice. With her second poetry collection, Barefoot Poetess, Rosemont has moved away from the high voltage visual acrobatics of her debut. This shift in tone showcases Rosemont's versatility and a deepening maturity-both in content and craft. Her unique voice has become more distilled, her craft more finely controlled. She writes with a sharper blade. Barefoot Poetess takes readers on an intimate journey through Rosemont's metamorphosis from the disillusionment of fractured relationships, complexities of culture and identity, the ridiculousness of the current zeitgeist, through to at the very heart of things, love. This collection ripples with an undercurrent of violence. Yet there is also a softness to it-a sense of hope amidst the jagged edges. AUTHOR: Paris Rosemont is a Sydney-based poet. Her poetry has found eclectic homes, from international literary journals and anthologies through to quirky underground zines. Her niche is theatrical performance poetry. She has appeared at the Sydney Fringe Festival, world premiere of Slam Messiah 2022, Ubud Writers & Readers Festival 2023 and Short+Sweet Festival Illawarra 2023, where she was awarded Best Script.
