She has been NI Arts Council recognised and gained an international reputation as a storyteller, having appeared in storytelling festivals in America, New Zealand, Ireland, Scotland and England. Doreen was awarded a silver medal by the University Of South Carolina for services as Storyteller in Residence. in 1993.
