Remembering

Today you may read about the antics and publicity sought by such artists as Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and Madonna but if you were able to turn back the clock to the Twenties and Thirties you would soon realize that they are mere amateurs and pale into insignificance when compared to Joséphine Baker. This double CD collection contains no fewer than 57 tracks, from her theme song "J'ai Deux Amours" which she introduced in 1932 through to many French titles - a lot of them associated with her beloved Paris. Joséphine's lifestyle and antics are almost unbelievable, whether it be her many menagerie of pets which included a cheetah to her many affairs with both men and women or her work in the French resistance during WWII which saw her awarded several medals. It is safe to say that when Joséphine died so did one of the greatest divas of the jazz age.
