The Wolf Hour DVD

June (Naomi Watts, King Kong) was once a known counter-culture figure, but that was a decade ago. She now lives alone in her South Bronx apartment, having all but cut herself off from the outside world. It's the notorious Summer of Sam and June only has to look out of her window to see the violence escalating with the brutal summer heat. The city is on a knife's edge, a pressure-cooker about to explode into the incendiary 1977 New York blackout riots.

Review of The Wolf Hour by Christopher Pattison

Naomi Watts in recent years has made her imprint in the thriller and horror genre, with an enjoyable performance in the horror film 'Shut-In'. In ‘Umbrella Entertainments’ September release of ‘The Wolf Hour’, Naomi Watts plays June Leigh a former counter-culture figure, who has isolated herself in recent years. It is now the notorious Summer of Sam and June only has to look out of her window to see the violence escalating with the brutal summer heat. The city is on a knife's edge, a pressure-cooker about to explode into the incendiary 1977 New York blackout riots. With Naomi Watts at the lead and an interesting premise, how was ‘The Wolf Hour’?
‘The Wolf Hour’ has been on my watchlist for quite some time. I am a huge fan of Naomi Watts and the film looked interesting from its trailer. The film has a certain sense of dread and tension that is captured well throughout the film. Naomi Watts definitely elevates the material, giving a genuinely captivating performance. She is great in this film. The film's premise is also unique, it is unlike anything else I have seen in the genre. The film is well directed as well, with the tension and growing dread is well highlighted throughout the film.
‘The Wolf Hour’ was tense, well-made and well-crafted. The film has a great sense of suspense and dread throughout which I found to be effective and well-executed from director Alistair Banks Griffin. I would recommend this film to genre fans and those who are looking for something different. I am giving ‘The Wolf Hour’ a 7/10. Pick up your copy on DVD today from your local Sanity or Online!
