Tammy was born Virginia Wynette Pugh on May, 5th 1942 in Tremont, Mississippi and always dreamed of being a country singer. No doubt success also had a place in that dream although great superstardom may not have figured in her imagination.

In 1977 when the first of the three albums in this collection was released, Tammy Wynette had been recording for almost twelve years. One Of A Kind, that albums title track was to become her 40th chart success. It was a changing time in country music. Tammy, with her distinctive voice and heart-break songs, followed in the footsteps of Kitty Wells, Loretta Lynn and Patsy Cline.
