Beyond Ugly

Bristol beats duo Malachai present their third studio album, Beyond Ugly. The final chapter in their Ugly trio, it follows 2011’s Return To The Ugly Side and 2010’s The Ugly Side of Love before it.

Mixing elements of drum & bass with classic hip hop beats and samples, Malachai were originally discovered by Portishead’s Geoff Barrow, releasing early EPs on Barrow’s Invada Records before signing with Domino.

Written and recorded by the core duo of vocalistGee Ealey and DJ Scott Hendy, Beyond Ugly recaptures the sonic stew of their cultish prior releases – a potent brew of some good ol' Bristol-fashioned psychedelic comedown and a healthy dose of renewed restlessness and anger.

Beyond Ugly features special guests Geoff Barrowwhose vocal appears on ‘The Love’, and Kasabian’s Sergio Pizzorno who makes a guest appearance on ‘Dragon’s Ball’.
