Nicolette Larson first came to prominence as harmony vocalist for some of the foremost names in American music – Linda Ronstadt, Neil Young, Hoyt Axton, Emmylou Harris, Michael McDonald, Commander Cody, Guy Clark, Jesse Winchester, Rodney Crowell, Graham Nash, Rita Coolidge... In 1979 she scored notable hits as a solo artist with covers of Young's "Lotta Love" and Winchester's "Rhumba Girl", both bright and breezy examples of West Coast pop-rock. In 1984 she signed a new deal with MCA Nashville. The mellifluous tone and natural twang of her voice was well suited to country and the Academy of Country Music named her the Top New Female Vocalist of the year.
