Dennis Coffey

Legendary Detroit guitarist and original 'Funk Brother', Dennis Coffey was credited as the man who put the WahWah into Motown! This new self-titled album is a dense, fuzz-heavy haze of incendiary psychedelic soul, much akin to his early '70s forays... In addition to new compositions, Coffey cherrypicks tracks upon which he first appeared, and an illustrious guest list interprets. Soul hero Mayer Hawthorne takes up The Parliaments' poignant All Your Goodies Are Gone, Fanny Franklin from killer LA combo Orgone covers Wilson Pickett's psych-soul Don't Knock My Love and Lisa Kekaula from The Bellrays takes on Somebody's Been Sleeping. The Detroit connection looms large too - Dirtbombs' Mick Collins alongside Detroit Cobras' Rachel Nagy unleash a brooding Funkadelic number.
