We Built A Fire

Defying its humble beginnings as the lo-fi solo project of Icelandic singer and multi-instrumentalist Sindri Mar Sigfusson (American Rolling Stone called him the "Icelandic Beck"), Seabear has morphed into a rambling experimental/indie/folk septet. While Sigfusson's unmistakable voice remains the centrepiece on 'We Built A Fire', there are many beautiful full-band sing-alongs to carry the gorgeous melodies. While retaining their signature simplistic and addictive naive indie folk, there is also straight up indie rock, intense balladry and country twang. Despite scant promotion and airplay behind their debut album release, 2007's 'The Ghost That Carried Us Away', their songs and animated videos were a social media hit generating millions of plays.
