Russian Archives: Yuri Temirkanov

Yuri Temirkanov is one of Russia's foremost conductors, with appointments at the Kirov Opera, the Royal Philharmonic and the Leningrad Philharmonic to name a few. His performances are distinguished by emotion, colour and warmth. The all-Russian recordings here date from 1966 to 1985, featuring various orchestras. Works by obvious Russian composers (Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Scriabin, Rachmaninov, Shostakovich) are included alongside compositions from Ravel, Debussy and others, including Beethoven's eighth.
