Ahead of its time when released in November 1989, “Jazz”, the Magnum Opus by well-respected Sydney hardcore foursome Massappeal, has remained an unattainable benchmark in original Australian punk and metal. A breathtaking blend of hardcore, thrash metal and angular rock, it is one of those albums that stands outside of any one genre - an album built to stand the test of time. Originally issued as a double-LP by Waterfront Records, all 13 tracks have been compiled onto one CD for this special re-release by Chatterbox Records. Newly remastered, it has never sounded more relevant. With metal sounds now cutting deep into the punk and hardcore scene, the world finally appears to have caught up with “Jazz”.
