�� ‘Burn to Shine’ is a film series produced by FUGAZI's BRENDAN CANTY and directed by filmmaker CHRISTOPH GREEN. �� This is the 2nd installment in the series and is titled ‘Burn to Shine 2: Chicago Il’. 09.13.04. �� It features live performances by WILCO, SHELLAC, TORTOISE, FREAKWATER, THE PONYS, LONESOME ORGANIST, TIGHT PHANTOMZ, RED EYED LEGENDS, AND PIT ER PAT, and was recorded, mixed, and curated by the very capable record producer and SHELLAC member BOB WESTON. �� Brendan Canty and Christoph Green and their archiving crew travel from town to town and film bands performing in houses about to be demolished or burned to the ground. They set up a recording studio in the house and in just one day they document the house, the bands, and then later, the demolition. Then they put it together in a 45-minute movie, put it out on DVD and move on to the next town. �� The bands in BTS 2 play just one song each in the hundred-year-old house and are presented in the order that they were recorded. Every hour on the hour a new band set up, sound checked and recorded. �� In between the bands lay shots of the bands setting up and portraits of some of the cooler aspects of the old house. The '50s refrigerator, stove, tiles, wallpaper, etc. All invoking an increasing feeling of doom as the end draws near. The final demolition sequence laying waste to the day’s events in a matter of minutes.
