The successful team behind The Leopard, Luchino Visconti and Burt Lancaster, team up again in Visconti's most autobiographical film, Conversation Piece.

Lancaster stars as a retired professor living a solitary life in a luxurious Roman palazzo. Confronted by a vulgar Italian marchesa and her cliqueher beautiful but shady lover Konrad, her daughter Lietta, and Lietta's boyfriend Stefanohe is strong-armed into renting them an apartment on the upper floor of his home. As his quiet routine is turned into chaos by his tenants' machinations, he begins to forge a strong bond with the headstrong Konrad. Conversation Piece stars Italian screen legend Silvana Mangano and Visconti favourite Helmut Burger alongside Lancaster, with an uncredited appearance from Claudia Cardinale.
