The White Lotus Season 3 (2025) Review
HBO has become the benchmark in modern television. In terms of critical and commercial success and in terms of quality. They paved the way for modern television with shows like The Wire,Sopranos and Boardwalk Empire, leading to modern hits Game Of Thrones, Westworld, True Detective, The Last of Us and Mike White’s ‘The White Lotus’. Since it’s debut in 2021, ‘The White Lotus’ has quickly elevated to one of the most popular shows on television. Its timely themes, mixed with dark humour and fantastic characters, bought to life by unexpected and well-cast ensembles, has made ‘The White Lotus’ a cultural phenomenon.
After a 3-year hiatus, Mike White returned behind the cameras show runner, writer and director of The White Lotus Season 3. Set in a luxurious wellness resort in Thailand, Season 3 of The White Lotus follows a new group of wealthy guests and resort staff as they navigate a week of spiritual exploration, buried secrets, emotional reckoning, and unexpected violence. The main storylines follow:
As tensions rise and secrets surface, the idyllic setting becomes a backdrop for betrayal, transformation, and a shocking finale that leaves no one untouched. The season came back with guns blazing (quite literally), providing some of the best moments of the series to date!
The strengths of The White Lotus always lie in its amazing ensemble cast, there are so many stars here, and they’re all bringing their a-game. I won’t breakdown each individual here but highlight my 5 favourite performances of this season.
1 has to be Walton Goggins as Rick. His laid-back demeanour and attitude make for one of the best characters to date.
2. Is Jason Isaacs as Timothy Ratliff. His sedated state and gradual decline during the film is fantastic to watch. There are moments of hilarity and moments of sadness. It’s a great performance.
3. Is Patrick Schwarzenegger as Saxon Ratliff. He’s fantastic. Probably the funniest character in the show. His confidence and growth is some of the best stuff in the show.
4. Is Parker Posey as Victoria Ratliff, another member of the Ratliff clan. She’s wonderful here. From her opening line, you just knew she was going to be iconic and that she was!
5. Is Sam Rockwell in a smaller role, as Rick’s friend Frank. He’s only here briefly, but goddamn is he memorable, being recognised with an Emmy nomination for his brief turn. One of the biggest surprises and highlights of season 4 for sure.
The Thailand setting is also gorgeous. We get lavish shots of the resort populated with lavish set-pieces and locations. As it does in the first two seasons, the White Lotus Resort, once again it feels like its own character. Mike White’s experiences and interactions with the wealthy and cultural elite are as apparent here as they have ever been. He always toes the line of poking fun at these people and providing cultural satire. It’s a hard thing to pull off but no one does it better than the great Mike White.
Overall, The White Lotus Season 3 is fantastic. Its funny, thrilling and the overall mystery will keep you guessing until the final moments of the season finale. Its cast is once again fantastic, with standout performances by Jason Isaacs, Walton Goggins, Sam Rockell, Parker Posey and Patrick Schwarzenegger and the rest of the ensemble. It’s a must-watch for fans of the series and those wanting a compelling mystery. Be sure to pick-up your copy on DVD from Sanity today, you won’t want to miss it!
