It’s been nine years in-between albums for The Offspring, and their fans have been patiently awaiting the roll out of what would become their tenth studio album for an extra long time thanks to the Covid-19 pandemic. But after a whole lot of set backs, ‘Let The Bad Times Roll’ has finally been unveiled in its punchy and angsty entirety. The 12 track collection of punk-rock hears them delivering a whole lot of energy and perfectly setting themselves up for future live shows.
Opening song ‘This Is Not Utopia’ immediately confirms that sentiment with a punchy hook that you’ll want to chant along to and perfectly sets up the clear standout and title track ‘Let The Bad Times Roll’ which follows in pursuit.
It’s a full octane listen from start to finish, well until track eleven anyway where they offer a piano ballad version of their classic 1997 single ‘Gone Away’. Rounding off the album with the distorted ‘Lullaby’, this record highlights some experimental moments, as well as some highly playful ones with the track ‘We Don’t Have Sex Anymore’ and the ‘In The Hall Of The Mountain King’ interlude. So yeah, it’s pretty much a classic The Offspring record.
