Slim Dusty is an Australian country music legend. With over 100 albums in his discography, the Nulla Nulla Creek singer-songwriter is one the most prolific voices of our musical history. Last year his wife Joy McKean released the documentary film ‘Slim & I’ which profiled their relationship and career together and refocused Slim and his integral part of shaping the domestic country music landscape.
With fathers day quickly approaching, a compilation of Slim Dusty’s best songs about fishing has been put together in a posthumous release poignantly titled ‘Gone Fishin’. This 12 track collection is not a greatest hits as such, instead it’s a spotlight on his storytelling and his detailed approach to imagery. In fans' eyes all of these songs are greatest hits and classics, but hearing them all together brings a new perspective. It’s as if all these tracks were meant to be experienced together as his love for the country and fishing are cohesively interwoven.
