Rag’N’Bone Man - Life By Misadventure Album Review

The breakthrough success of Rag’N’Bone Man’s debut album ‘Human’ was so monstrous with its impact that a follow up album was always going to be looked at under with such a microscope. Luckily ‘Life By Misadventure’ is a strong body you work that continues his soulful storytelling with deep vulnerability and anthemic hooks.

Lead single ‘All You Ever Wanted’ is a punchy track reminiscent of Bruce Springsteen and Gang Of Youths’ back catalogues with his signature raspy vocals and anthemic guitars and drums leading the way. It has a very 70’s-80’s rock sound with a polished 2020’s glow on top, and that’s where the rest of the album sonically lays. ‘Changing Of The Guard’ and ‘Crossfire’ continue this particular upbeat sound while songs like ‘Time Will Only Tell’ and ‘Alone’ explores more of a soulful approach. There are then more tender offerings from the P!nk collaboration ‘Anywhere Away From Here’ and the minimalistic ‘Breath In Me’ that highlights a versatility in his delivery.

‘Life By Misadventure’ is perfect morning album for reflection and to ease you into your day, as well as to encourage you to lean into the misadventure that life may steer you down.
