London Grammar - Californian Soil Album Review

London Grammar - Californian Soil Album Review

Consistently delivering melodic soundscapes, London Grammar have always impressed with stunning arrangements and vulnerable emotional unravellings that touch you deep in the soul. Their third studio album ‘Californian Soil’ further explores those roots, but they’ve also decided to get a little more experimental. Introducing a heavier pop experimentation into their production this record sees them delivering some unexpected pulsating moments like ‘Lose Your Head’ and ‘How Does It Feel’ that will truly enhance their future live shows. But there are also a lot of expansive moments of reflection that capture that dreamy essence of their previous albums like ‘Missing’, ‘Call Your Friends’ and ‘Talking’.

The album’s clear standout moment is ‘Lord It’s A Feeling’ that’ll hit you right in the feelings with the lyric “I saw the way you made her feel, like she should be somebody else”. It’s a moment of emotional despair that you’ll physically take on through Hannah Reid’s honest vocal delivery.

‘Californian Soil’ is an impressive experimental body of work for London Grammar that embraces growth and evolution.
