15 Last-minute Christmas ideas this Christmas

Okay, it’s officially December, Christmas is less than 25 sleeps away and you need to get shopping. I’m assuming if you’re reading this then you’ve probably left Christmas shopping to the last minute. I get it, life gets in the way sometimes and it’s hard to balance Christmas shopping with work, Christmas parties and the other day-to-day activities that big down our time. After delay, upon delay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we finally got to see No Time To Die in November of 2021 and now the film has been released on DVD/Blu-Ray and 4K UHD. This film has it all, action, beautiful scenery, great performances, a top-notch villain, and an emotionally resonant narrative, that sees the Daniel Craig, James Bond era. James Bond is a cultural phenomenon, and the chances are whoever you buy this for, will get a kick out of it.

Modern Family Season 11 DVD –
Modern Family has been the pinnacle of family sitcoms for the best part of a decade and in 2020, during the COVID-19 pandemic, the show aired its eleventh, and final season. The best part about Modern Family is, that the show can be picked up from any point in time, and chances are everyone has caught re-runs of the show at some point. The final season of Modern Family is fantastic, with the funniest family, saying goodbye one final time. The show packs a comedic and emotional punch, that is satisfying but also immensely entertaining. If you’re going to pick up any season of the show for a Christmas present, make it Season 11 on DVD.

Elvis Original Soundtrack – CD –
One of the biggest films of 2022 has been Australian filmmaker Baz Lurhman’s Elvis biopic, aptly titled ‘Elvis’. One of the highlights of the film, was its amazing soundtrack. With a mixture of orchestral beats, remixes of Elvis’s classic tunes, and new music from artists such as Doja Cat, the original motion picture soundtrack may just be the best movie soundtrack of the year. One of the biggest TV shows of the last decade is Taylor Sheridan’s Western masterpiece ‘Yellowstone’. In 2022, we got our first prequel show, which has expanded the Dutton story. 1883 is fantastic, from start to finish this first season has expanded the story well, creating an exciting story that will be sure to keep Yellowstone fans happy until the next season of the main show returns. 1883 is now out on DVD and Blu-Ray and would make a lucky recipient very happy this Christmas.

One of the biggest films of 2022 has been DC’s ‘The Batman’ which sees the titular hero duke it out with both The Riddler played by Paul Dano and Colin Farrells Penguin. The film is fantastic, providing another realistic portrayal of the character, with actor Robert Pattinson shining in the role. His dark turn as the character is both haunting and menacing. Top Gun: Maverick DVD/Blu-Ray/4K UHD –
If you had told me that ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ would be the highest-grossing film of 2022, I wouldn’t have believed you, but here we are in December of 2022, and ‘Top: Gun Maverick’ is still reigning supreme as box office king. It’s been 36 years since Tony Scott’s original ‘Top Gun’ film, and it feels like absolutely no time has passed. We jump back into Maverick’s world, with a new group of hotshot recruits, and a new threat. Rooster, played by Miles Teller is the latest recruit to challenge for the spot of top dog, having a turbulent history with Tom Cruise’s Maverick, as Rooster is the son of Maverick’s late wingman, ‘Goose’. The film is filled with some of the best action set-pieces ever put to film, with the breathtaking visuals transporting audiences to the cockpit along with these characters. I was blown away by just how much I enjoyed this film. This is a must-watch even if you weren’t the biggest fan of the original. This is the perfect stocking stuffer this Christmas!

The Black Phone Collector’s Edition – DVD/Blu-Ray –
Director Scott Derickson’s 2022 film ‘The Black Phone’ based on Stephen King’s son, Joe Hill’s novel of the same name, is without a doubt the best horror film of 2022. The best horror films are always those that manage to evoke other emotions out of you as well, and ‘The Black Phone’ does this very well. The film does a great job of creating amazing characters, with the child performers here by relative newcomers to film, ‘Mason Thames’ as Finney and ‘Madeleine McGraw’ as Gwen giving truly amazing performances. Ethan Hawke’s scene-stealing turn as ‘The Grabber’ is also worth mentioning, as his iconic look will be a horror staple for years to come. This film is raw and so well-executed. A must-watch for horror fans and those looking for something a little different. This will make for an interesting Christmas watch.

Red Taylor’s Version – CD –
