Cay's Cray's / Del Fuego

Originally released in 2006, “Cay’s Crays (Digital Mystikz Remix)” is widely regarded as one of the greatest dubstep records ever made—and for good reason. Mala and Coki’s Digital Mystikz remix brings the weight of classic dub soundsystem together with Joe Dukie’s unmistakably soulful vocal. Deep, spacious and built to move a dance, it captures the sound and spirit of dubstep’s formative years without ever feeling trapped in the past. At a time when sung vocals were still unusual in dubstep, hearing this drop was a genuine moment. The vocal would float across the room before the bass pressure took hold: warm enough for the headphones, but devastating through a proper system. It quickly became an anthem for the early scene and remains a defining example of the connection between dub, roots and dubstep. Nearly two decades later, the record still earns festival and soundsystem plays from selectors including Mala, Coki, Iration Steppas and Om Unit. Original copies have become highly sought-after collectors’ items, regularly commanding serious prices on Discogs. The B side features a stunning remix of Del Fuego by Swedish producer Carl Borg that sees its first ever release on vinyl
