Printworks Wood Chess - The Functionalist

Printworks Wood Chess – The Functionalist - Where design heritage meets the timeless strategy of chess.

The Functionalist Chess is shaped by purpose alone. Stripped of ornament and reduced to decisive geometric forms, every piece is designed with clarity and intent. Crafted in black and natural matte wood, the materials are allowed to speak for themselves—nothing is added without reason, and every move follows necessity.

Part of Printworks’ The Legacy Collection, The Functionalist transforms chess into a sculptural expression of design history. Each edition in the collection draws inspiration from defining movements in art and architecture, bringing their principles to life through one of the world’s most enduring games.

Designed to be played, displayed and collected, The Functionalist is equally at home on a coffee table, bookshelf or games table. Its understated aesthetic makes it a sophisticated addition to contemporary interiors and a distinctive gift for lovers of chess, architecture and design.
