Pod

Can a little seed named Pod find a good place for her roots to grow? From hitching a ride on a bear to being expelled into pigeon poop, this adorable debut takes a look at a seed’s life cycle.

Tiny Pod is off on a big adventure! She really wants to put down roots, but everywhere she lands, no matter how much she squishes and squeezes, things don’t feel quite right. But Pod is nothing if not patient and persistent. Cue up an earnest dog’s snout, a pile of leaves, even a flowing river and a hibernation den before a comical chain of events catapults Pod to the perfect place for sprouting into something beautiful. New author-illustrator talent Clare Andrews brings humor and heart to the science of seed dispersal, with charming illustrations in springlike colors. A simple endnote invites readers to learn more about the ways plants spread their seeds and the wild cherry tree that is Pod’s destination.
