Sustainable Smart Systems with Edge Computing and IoT

Sustainable Smart Systems with Edge Computing and IoT explores how edge intelligence, IoT, artificial intelligence, and intelligent automation can be integrated to design secure, energy-efficient, and resilient smart systems for sustainable infrastructure, industry, healthcare, agriculture, environmental management, transportation, and governance.

Readers will gain practical and research-oriented insights into developing intelligent systems that deliver real-time decision-making while reducing latency, cloud dependency, computational overhead, and energy consumption. The book combines IoT architectures, edge intelligence, machine learning at the edge, digital twins, cloud–edge collaboration, cybersecurity, blockchain, 5G and beyond, and energy-efficient computing with practical case studies, implementation strategies, performance analyses, and emerging research directions. A distinctive emphasis on the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) demonstrates how digital technologies can contribute directly to resource optimization, carbon reduction, climate resilience, circular economy practices, and sustainable development.
