Children’s Literature and Digital Humanities

Children’s Literature and Digital Humanities opens the door to exploration of the digital humanities by practitioners and scholars of children’s and young adult literature. It is an accessible and practical guide to engaging with and thinking like digital humanities scholars. The book also invites DH scholars into the children’s literature space, framing mutually beneficial spaces for collaboration. Building conceptual bridges between two distinct, sometimes daunting, but ultimately complementary fields, this text presents a starting point to foster conversations, training, engagement. It invites scholarship at the multiple intersection points between the diverse, interdisciplinary, interactive work that falls under the umbrella of children’s literature studies and digital humanities. This book explores opportunities for innovation in children’s literature scholarship as a complement to more traditional methodologies that are usually the focus of children’s literature academic training, helping both new and established scholars in the children’s literature field add new tools to their analytical toolbox. Through embracing digital humanities methodologies, theories, practical examples, and beginner-friendly resources, this text brings out the best in both fields.
