Provocations on Home, Place and Belonging Through Arts-Based Research

Provocations on Home, Place and Belonging through Arts-based Research brings together 12 international and interdisciplinary practitioners and scholars to formulate new creative articulations of what it means to be at home, to be in place and to belong. Drawing on diverse global contexts, languages and cultures, contributors generate original articulations on these themes.

Concepts and ideas are expressed as fluid, contingent, often restless and in flux. The volume does not seek consensus or offer a universal position. Nor does it position academic commentary above artistic practice. Rather, contributions work in dialogue with one another. Knowledge emerges through creative research as situated; shaped by lived experience and creative processes.

Throughout the volume, artists and researchers draw on personal, local and global concerns. They reflect on the impact of climate change, war and displacement on individuals, communities and populations. To provoke, in this context, is to open a space for dialogue. It is to challenge assumptions, defy classification and create new possibilities for critical reflection and resistance.
