The Logical Treatises of al-Ghazali

The Logical Treatises of al-Ghazali: The Standard of Knowledge, The Correct Balance, and Intellectual Insights presents new English translations of three major logical treatises by one of the most influential thinkers in Islamic intellectual history.

This volume presents annotated translations of all three treatises, revealing how al-Ghazali integrated Greek and Arabic logical traditions into Islamic religious thought and demonstrated the central role of reason in both religious scholarship and everyday judgement. Accompanied by a substantial introduction, explanatory notes, a glossary of technical terms, a bibliography, and an index, the book provides essential historical and philosophical context while allowing readers to engage closely with the original Arabic texts through detailed references.

This book will appeal to students and scholars of Islamic studies, philosophy, theology, and the history of logic, as well as readers interested in the intellectual legacy of al-Ghazali and the development of reasoning in the Islamic tradition.
