Language Curriculum Design

Now in its third edition, Language Curriculum Design describes the steps involved in the curriculum design process, elaborates and justifies these steps, and provides opportunities for practicing and applying them.

Crystal-clear and comprehensive yet concise, the steps are laid out at a general level so that they can be applied in a wide range of particular circumstances to create curricula that integrate knowledge from across the field of Applied Linguistics, including language acquisition research, teaching methodology, assessment, language description, and materials production. Updated throughout with cutting-edge research and theory, the third edition contains new discussions of AI and expanded attention to the process of understanding and applying the principles of language curriculum design. The process comes to life through plentiful examples of actual applications from the authors’ experience and from published research. These examples and case studies have been re-imagined for the third edition to be even more practical and relevant. Each chapter also includes tasks that encourage readers to relate the steps to their own experience, detailed case studies and suggestions for further reading.

Combining sound research/theory with state-of-the-art practice, Language Curriculum Design is widely applicable for crafting ESL/EFL language education courses around the world. Accompanying online resources include links to language learning technique videos.
